Ever notice how often we hear “strengthen your pelvic floor”?
As a pelvic health and nervous system regulation practitioner, I can tell you that’s only part of the story.
Too many women I work with are unknowingly living in a state of pelvic floor hypertonicity, where the muscles are overactive, tight, and unable to release. This constant gripping isn’t just about your muscles; it’s about your nervous system trying to feel safe.
When your body is under stress, whether physical, emotional, or even digestive, your pelvic floor often responds by holding tension. It’s your body’s way of saying, “I don’t feel safe yet.”
What I’ve learned over my 25 plus years as an Occupational Therapist, visceral manual therapist, and nervous system specialist is that your pelvic floor and nervous system are deeply intertwined. When your nervous system feels safe, your pelvic floor naturally knows how to release and support with just the right amount of engagement.
That’s why I approach pelvic floor work differently. Instead of focusing on tightening, I combine nervous system regulation with myofascial ball release and movement based re-patterning to help your body find ease, balance, and natural stability from within.
If you’ve been doing traditional pelvic floor exercises and not seeing results, it’s likely because you’re missing the nervous system regulation piece and the ability to help your structure actually release. When your system feels safe, your body finally has the freedom to function the way it was designed to.
We focus on this kind of integrated work inside my Gutsy Brain Movement Membership, where we combine nervous system regulation, structural support, and the brain body biome connection for deep, lasting change.
