When my daughter was accepted INto a dance program IN the Upper Penisula of Michigan., we jumped at the chance to explore this stunning region.

My husband and I, avid hikers, eagerly began planning our adventures, imagining ourselves wandering through the untouched wilderness, chasing the many picturesque waterfalls that dot the landscape.

As the trip approached, our excitement grew. We packed our gear and headed out, ready to embrace the beauty and challenge of the trails. But upon arrival, along with our enthusiasm, I brought an unwelcome guest—my old hip issue, which had been aggravated by the long nine-hour drive.

I’d been pain-free for months, so this flare-up felt like a huge setback, threatening to derail our carefully laid plans.

Disappointment crept IN.

After all, we’d been looking forward to these hikes for so long. But instead of giving up, I treated myself with the same care and attention I offer my clients. I pulled out my trusty body rolling balls (they go everywhere with me) and utilized my Nervous System Regulation tools, INcluding isometrics, to recalibrate my pelvis and hip joints.

With determination and a bit of self-compassion, I worked on resetting my body, focusing on what I could do rather than what I might have to miss.

WithIN a day, I was ready to take on the trails. We started with the gentler paths, allowing my body to ease into the activity, and by the end of the trip, I was tackling the more challenging hikes I’d originally set my sights on (see photo below).

After each hike, I’d return to the cottage, rolling and performing more isometrics to keep my body in balance.

Have you ever planned an active trip, only to find that your body isn’t quite cooperating when the time comes? You’re not alone!

I work with SO many people who long to get out to walk, hike, bike, and fully enjoy life, but they often feel limited by past injuries, surgeries, or compensations.

I love empowering them with exercises like the ones IN this flow, designed to establish joint integrity, create a sense of safety IN the body, and warm up their tissues and nervous systems so they can embrace life’s adventures with confidence.

And here’s the best part—no fancy equipment is needed! All you need is a door!

I created this simple door exercise to organize and regulate the nervous system through contralateral movement while tapping into the benefits of isometrics.

This isometric move helps to activate the lateral glutes, which are often underactive IN so many people. It’s a fantastic exercise to do before heading out for your walk, run, hike, or other activities!

INterested IN more flows like the one above? My virtual membership is packed with sequences that empower you to fully enjoy life, and it’s all accessible from the comfort of your home. You can participate live and get INspired by our amazing community–people just like you that have had injuries threaten their active lifestyle–or watch the replays at your convenience.

It’s the best way to access my unique work at a fraction of the cost my 1:1 clients invest. You can register HERE
