“Oh, you will forget about all the pain/struggle of labor & delivery after you hold that baby”.

If I had a dime for every time I heard someone say that as a young woman & even as a child–what are we setting girls up for???

It’s a lie.

Yes, you get the “prize” of a beautiful baby after all of it.

But the potential trauma of L&D burrows INto your body, mind & heartspace and most women don’t ever receive support.

Unsupported & unprocessed it can show up later IN the mind🧠 & body.

It took TONS of work INcluding nervous system regulation for me to process and heal from:
💗laboring for 3 days without progressing
💗having to abandon my vision of a natural birth
💗the INtense contractions on Ptocin
💗having to be put fully under for a C-section and my husband & I not able to hear my daughter enter the world
💗having visual issues from the anesthesia and unable to see my baby when I awoke (thank goodness I could feel her on my skin)
💗the week spent IN the hospital + blood transfusions due to blood loss (my baby was with me the entire time thankfully)
💗Not to mention the 8 years of fertility struggles and loss prior

I share this to let other Moms out there know that you are not alone. Pregnancy and birth IS miraculous, amazing, and yet can also be traumatic.

It’s ok not to forget about it all once you hold that sweet baby💗👶.

Please find the support you need! Many areas now have birth trauma support groups. Midwives, doulas and mental health counselors are also great resources. Message me if you want NSR tools.

This photo is on day 2 of our birth process. I’m doing an INtegration move to stay focused + calm.

On Mother’s day and always let’s acknowledge, support and honor the process and potential trauma of birth.
